Wasteland (2011) Synopsis :

WASTELAND is an upcoming indie post-apocalyptic western written by Lucas James Culshaw and Directed by KANTZ .

It's the near future and The chemicals that we have been pumping into the environment have caused our ecosystem to fail and collapse. Known as 'Black Sunday', hundreds of the worst dust storms or 'Black Blizzards' occurred throughout the world; The world has gone barren, food stocks dwindled and humanity has been brought to the edge of extinction.

A man (Garret T. Sato) and his family are trying to adjust to this world gone wrong when group of religious zealots simply named The Church pay them an unwelcome visit. Brutalized and tortured, The Church lead by the enigmatic Caine (Derrel Flynn), leave him and his wife for dead and carry his son Jacob (Jagger Chase) off for some unholy purpose.

Now its many years later and the world has only gotten worse. Cannibalism has spread like wildfire and Scavengers, Mutants and unknown horrors that lurk beneath the sand are now threats.......

Wasteland (2011) Review by viligeidiot from Canada
Right out of the gate, you can tell this is not the highest budget, bigproduction movie of the year... but that's OK! Hollywood should takenotice of little indie films like this that do a lot with very little.

The movie itself is a mishmash of Mad Max, survival wasteland and somechop-socky tossed in for flavour. If you can look past the low budgetand the 'slightly' over the top acting, it really isn't a half-badmovie! Certainly entertained me more than 'Drive' which I watchedearlier this evening.

Fans of cult films will certainly get a kick out of this (punintended)and I hope the makers do more in the future. I think with abig studio behind them, they could really create something special....maybe even the next Matrix or Saw, who knows?
